In the morning i start early...watching the sun starting to rise in this strange, timeless place.
Geographically, the Macin Mountains are situated at a low altitude in a unique bio-geographical position. Floristically, they represent the northern limit of Mediterranean, Balkan and Pontic species, the southern limit of the central European and Caucasian species, and the western limits of a number of Asiatic species. All of the forest plant communities in the area are considered rare at the European level
1.4% of these species are now considered to be probably Extinct, 17% Vulnerable or Rare, and 82% Rare.Of the 187 bird species sightings recorded within the park area, 60% (approximately 112 species) are listed by IUCN as either Vulnerable to Rare, or Possibly Extinct, with many of the remaining species being considered as Insufficiently Known

Macinului Mountains means a special biodiversity with protected species which are declared natural monuments, it also is the oldest territory in Romania and one of the oldest in Europe, the existence of some important historic and regional vestiges, gateway towards two important touristic areas: Danube Delta and the resorts on the Black Seaside.

The greatest thing is that here you can find the National Park Muntii Macinului, with 11321 ha.On Luncavita Valley (Cetatuia) in the place named "La Scapeti" is functioning the "Beech Valley" Inn.

Outside the limit, at 9km from Nifon locality is the Cocos Monastery, an architectural monument placed in an especially outstanding natural region.

There are two salty lakes between Macin and Greci localities on an oldest Danube branch: the Salty Lake and Slatina Lake - a beautiful touristic lake having nearly the Pricopan Summit touring house.
Some of the most famous romanian vineyards are located in Tulcea, Istria-Babadag and Sarica-Niculitel.
Capul Dolosman este is a calcar cliff, with the maximum high of 29 m , beeing the only stone promenade from the romanian seaside area.

CAPUL DOLOSMAN it is a stone cliff , raised at the intersection of Razim lake and Golovita, a geologic and historical area.A calcar cliff, across of 3 km , with hight above 40 m , the home of some unique species and also the dobrogean olive tree, in Babadag forest. Very closed to it lies the ruins of Orgame-Argamum castle ,
and you can also see here Bisericuta.
Going very close to the sea, you can discover Histria , a Greek colony on the Black Sea coast .

Ancient Histria was situated on a peninsula, about 5 kilometres (3 mi) east of the modern colony ,on the Dobrudja coast of the Black Sea (today on the Sinoe Lake bank). It is also the oldest town attested on the territory of present day Romania. You can visit the museum , but more, you can go further to the lake, that somehow looks like the sea...and discover the real historical place.

Going further, you can follow the DJ 226 road to Corbu, Capul Midia, going along the sea, to Mamaia, Tomis Nord and then right to Valu lui Traian. Here you can have a look at Trajan's Wall- the vallum located nearby and also at the Botanical Reservation.

There are three valla in Romania, in south-central Dobruja, extending from the Danube to the Black Sea coast, built most probably by Byzantines between the 10th and the 11th century.
At Babadag , you should go to Cobadin, and then up to Adamclisi. Here you can stop for a quick look at the monument. In ancient times, a Roman castrum named Civitas Tropaensium was settled here and in 109 AD a monument named Tropaeum Traiani was built to commemorate the Roman Empire's victories over the Dacians.

The current name has a Turkish origin and it is an adaptation in Romanian of "Adam Kilisse" which means "the church of man"-when the Turkish people settled in this area, they thought the Ancient Roman monument was a church.

The target is Saint Andrew Monastery and Cave , the first christian place on the romanian territory. At 4 km from the constanta-Ostrov road, 3-4 km from the Ion Corvin village.

The monastery is build around the St Andrew Cave, a small church burrowed in a forested hill, with a rise, overwhelming entrance. The place is special...all the cave is covered by candles and notes from visitors.

During the communist era the cave was transformed in a stall, a sheep home. After 90’s the place started to be again what it always was, and the St Andrew Icon was brought here, where the altar should be. In the stone pro-naos you can also see the bed of St Andrew, a place that became an attraction and a hope for those that have healthy or emotional problems.

You can stay here for the night and you can enjoy the peace of the place and the good meal that the sisters will offer you. You can visit the Small Church and the Big Church. The small one harbor the St Andrew Relics as a Cross, in the middle lying a part of a finger of St Andrew. Close to the place you can find the St Andrew Spring, born by the hit of Andrew’s stick.
From Histria to here you will make a 129 km twist, but it will worth it!

Following DJ 391, you have 109 km to Vama-Veche.
On the left of the Mangalia-Albeşti road you can discover "Hagieni" forest. It has rare fauna and flora and Its attractiveness consists of vipers, so, be carefull !
Lake Techirghiol is renowned for its salt water and sapropelic mud, used in the therapy of rheumatic diseases. If you’re tired, you can try a BALNEOPHYSICAL TREATMENT AND MEDICAL REHABILITATION at Sanatorium TECHIRGHIOL.

Mangalia Stud is lovely for the fact that is located at only 500 m from the Black-Sea west coast . So, you can relax few minuted riding a beautiful Purebread on the beach. Some of them act in the movies, cause the stud is inhere from 1928 and has above 30 horses.

Then, straight to vama-Veche, on the Black Sea coast, near the border with Bulgaria. Even in Communist Romania, Vama Veche had the reputation of a non-mainstream tourist destination, a hangout for intellectuals, living in tents on the beach , famous for its nude sun-bath. You can choose to camp here, or to find a warm bed inside of the little camping houses on the beach or other host villas around.

Have a nice sleep!....
